Description

Upon first glance, this might be "just" a gorgeous looking Collings D1-T ("T" for "Traditional"). So what makes it NAMM worthy? It's the first Collings Traditional guitar to feature their new, optional satin finish -- or as we're fond of calling it, the "Julian" finish (if you've played a Collings OM1 Julian Lage model, you'll recognize the texture and feel right away). Based on the success of the Lage guitar, and based on what players hear in it (a drier, warmer tone, with a little high end rolled off the note attack) Collings has opened up the Traditional line to this finish ~ and this D1 is a fantastic poster child for it. The sunburst looks even more lustrous than usual under the satin finish, and this guitar's sound has a warm, hollow rumble that's certainly a departure from the standard Collings voice. Priced with TKL hard case from Collings!
