As most fans of Gibson guitars know, to find "the" one, you're going to have to play a bunch of them whether vintage or new. Great examples exist to be sure, but you could save yourself quite a bit of time and trouble and check out this stellar aged blonde Collings I-35LC. Icing on the cake? It's equipped with Throbak SLE101+ pickups - arguably some of the best PAF style pickups you can get - and it has a plain maple top for those that prefer the less flamed look. 

This guitar is super resonant, lively, and responsive. The neck feels incredible - slightly chunky, but appropriate for this style of guitar. The setup is simply flawless. The Throbak SLE101+ pickups sound phenomenal and have "the" 335 sound - gorgeous midrange punch, glassy top end sparkle, and are medium output on the bridge pickup, low output on the neck pickup (i.e., no muddy neck pickup tones to be had here).
