Description

We're thrilled to have our first Creston Lea made guitar in the shop! Made a few hours north of TME in Burlington, VT, Creston builds each guitar to the customer's specs. Those customers include the likes of Kris Delmhorst, Jaleel Bunton (TV on the Radio), Mark Erelli, Ian Mackay (Fugazi), Jay Farrar (Son Volt), Zack Hickman (Josh Ritter), Henry Kaiser, Michael Millard (Froggy Botton Guitars), and dozens of others.

This gently used Creston Thinline features a chambered 1-piece mahogany body and neck, rosewood fingerboard, Throbak Pre-T pickups, staggered Gotoh-Kluson tuners, and a chopped/top-loader T-style bridge. The bridge adds a really nice snap and slinky playing feel which pairs beautifully with the warmer (than a typical Tele), semi-hollow mahogany body. With this combo, you end up with the clarity and twang of Tele but with a bit more warmth and heightened midrange response. What's cool about this setup is that it allows you to lean towards brighter (but fatter) Tele tones or faux Gibson tones depending on the context/how you set your amp.

The neck carve is a really comfy chunky, slight V - fans of fatter necks will really love this one. The overall build quality is very high with a tight neck pocket, excellent fretwork, beautiful finish work, and a very cleanly cut nut. We love the absence of a string tree which allows Jim Campilongo types to bend behind the nut until their heart's content.

Simply put, we love this guitar and would highly recommend folks in the market for a new Tele put it at the top of the list! Priced with original Creston/Levys gig bag.
