Description

"Building guitars with your own hands, as good as possible and beyond, is nothing a career counselor suggests in high-school (at least not a responsible-minded one). Guitar making is more a calling than a profession, but it is not about 'more, more'. Our constant craving is better, better, better." - Nik Huber

Nik and the crew at Huber Guitars totally outdid themselves with this Burl Maple topped Dolphin II!

Recently featured at the NAMM 2020 show, this Stone Grey Dolphin II is Huber's take on the "Tele-Paul" idea - Tele ergonomics and 25 1/2" scale length, Les Paul woods and humbucker pickups. The results are fantastic. This guitar is extremely resonant, quite loud acoustically, and sustains for days without the aid of amplification.

Plugged in? Punchy, articulate, nuanced, refined...just incredible. Like its body shape implies, the Dolphin II hints at Fender tones in terms of clarity and bite, but the Haussel-made, coil-tappable humbuckers deliver a fatter midrange and more output than single coils are capable of. It's a unique sound that lives squarely at the intersection of the Fender/Gibson world.

Nik manages to straddle the line between a precision build and a soulful guitar brilliantly. There is a warmth and, forgive the term, organic quality to this guitar. The setup and playability are off the charts great. Luxurious is the term that came to mind when getting acquainted with this guitar. It's effortless to play and feels really alive in your hands.

We can't recommend this guitar enough, truth be told. If you're in the market for an exceptional "Tele/Paul" style guitar, or just an exceptional electric guitar, you really owe it to yourself to check out a Huber. Nik is making guitars that are at once familiar, yet new in a way you didn't even know you wanted. But trust us, you do. Priced with a deluxe hardshell case.
