Description

California-based Barry Grzebik is a bit of a modern renaissance man. Prior to guitar building, Barry was Director of Engineering for Apogee Sound where he designed, and oversaw the design, of everything from rack-mount digital signal processors to power amplifiers and critically acclaimed professional loudspeakers. His guitar company also partners with the Redwood Forest Foundation, Inc. which replants Redwood trees for each guitar sold. Suffice it to say, the man knows a thing or two about quality, sustainability, resonance, and sound.

Barry's newest model is called the Folsom, and we're loving the Paul Bigsby-esq vibe of this basswood body, mahogany neck, Lollar/Fralin loaded, 25" scale length beauty. The neck carve is somewhat chunky and Gibson-like - a really comfortable and easy-to-get-around-on carve, pairing beautifully with an ebony board and jumbo frets. The setup is excellent with low action...long story short, the Folsom is a joy to play.

Like all of Barry's guitars, the Folsom has a great acoustic tone with tons of sustain. Plugged into a Victoria Club Deluxe, we were greeted to inspiring Tele twang via the Fralin bridge pickup, and a warmer, richer tone via the Lollar neck pickup. Between the two, you can really cover a lot of ground depending on what you're asking of it.

We're thrilled to welcome Barry and his beautiful guitars to the Music Emporium family! If you're looking for something new that's both beautiful, alive, a blast to play - and - made by a luthier with an eye towards sustainability? You need to check out this Folsom. We're sold. Priced with a Reunion Blues gig bag.
