You had us at Koll and TK Smith pickups. Seriously. These are two of the coolest folks building today and when you combine them, good things are sure to come, right? 

The Koll Duo Glide in Gretsch Orange is a modern classic regardless of the pickups that are installed. Saul has been making this guitar for years to great acclaim and for good reason - he managed to capture the essence of a great Gretsch in a guitar that is infinitely more fun, reliable, and comfortable to play. Add to this platform a set of TK Smith's incredible pickups, a set of flat wound strings, and an old-school Grestch style bridge, and you've got one hell of a cool guitar! Chet Fan? Rockabilly fan? Setzer fan? Read on. 

From a visual standpoint, one of the coolest things about this Duo Glide is how the classic (and in this case stunning) roundup orange top w/TK's incredible looking pickups matches up with a rather unassuming, natural finished back. A very cool twist in our opinion: understated meets attention grabbing. One of the many reasons we love Saul's guitars - there's always a cool twist or turn you weren't expecting, might not have even spec'd yourself, but it always works and looks incredibly cool! 

Make no mistake - this is a Chet style / rockabilly style guitar. The playability is fantastic and the choice of flat wound strings makes perfect sense on this model (though feel free to swap them for round wounds which would expand the dynamic range a bit). The mix of flats and TK's pickups puts you squarely in 50s California. While not quite as dynamic with the flats installed, the tones you're able to conjure up make it well worth the trade off. It simply nails that quick attack, fat, round note thing that we all know and love from those early rock and country records.
