Nik Huber Dolphin II Charcoal Burst

Description

"Building guitars with your own hands, as good as possible and beyond, is nothing a career counselor suggests in high-school (at least not a responsible-minded one). Guitar making is more a calling than a profession, but it is not about 'more, more'. Our constant craving is better, better, better."

We're thrilled to now represent Nik Huber's incredible instruments! Our first guitar from Nik's Germany-based shop is this gorgeous Charcoal Burst Dolphin II - a featured guitar at the 2017 NAMM show.

Nik Huber makes exquisite instruments, period. There is a simplicity and focus to his builds that is apparent from the moment you pick one up, though don't be deceived by the word "simplicity". In the same way that a great songwriter can produce a timeless classic from 3 chords, or a great chef can blow your mind with only 3 ingredients, the quality and attention to detail inherent in Nik's guitars can only come from the mastery of one's trade. You can just sense the amount of skill and restraint required to execute a build like this (see: neck joint, the carve of the natural neck binding, immaculate fret work, etc...).

Like all great builders, Nik manages to straddle the line between a precision build and a soulful guitar brilliantly. There is a warmth and, forgive the term, organic quality to these guitars. The setup and playability are off the charts great. Luxurious is the term that came to mind when getting acquainted with this guitar. It's effortless to play and feels really alive in your hands.

Though it's perfectly made, this Dolphin II never gets in your way or distracts you with its beauty and perfection. This guitar is extremely resonant, quite loud acoustically, and sustains for days without the aid of amplification. Plugged in? Wow. Punch. Articulation. Power. Like its body shape implies, it hints at Fender and Gibson tones, but the Haussel-made, coil-tappable humbuckers deliver something entirely unique at the same time - this guitar is certainly no clone of either of these iconic brands!

We can't recommend this guitar enough, truth be told. If you're in the market for an exceptional "Tele/Paul" style guitar, or just an exceptional electric guitar, you really owe it to yourself to check out a Huber. Nik is making guitars that are at once familiar, yet new in a way you didn't even know you wanted. But trust us, you do. Priced with a deluxe hardshell case.
