Description

"Every day we try to make a better guitar, every day. You're trying to reach for more, trying to do better, not trying to do the same. A lot of companies are trying to do the same, and that's okay - that's their deal. We're trying to stretch that. Our goal is a little more." - Bill Collings

The 290 DC (double cutaway) features a mahogany slab body, short-scale, and Throbak '52-'54 P90s. All the stripped down elegance and tone that made the original Gibson LP Juniors and Specials so great, taken to a more refined place with the "Collings treatment" (looking at you, smoking hot Doghair finish)!

The best aspects of this guitar's tone are undoubtedly due to the Throbak '52/'54 P90s. Looking to capture that late 50s P90 magic? These pickups get you as close as any we've come across. The bridge P90 has a killer, almost Tele-like twang with a more pronounced midrange bite - not surprising to hear for anyone familiar with a great P90. The neck pickup is round and warm though it still retains a really nice top-end response - articulate without being sterile.

This eye-catching 290 is priced with Ameritage hardshell case from Collings!
