Description

"Every day we try to make a better guitar, every day. You're trying to reach for more, trying to do better, not trying to do the same. A lot of companies are trying to do the same, and that's okay - that's their deal. We're trying to stretch that. Our goal is a little more." - Bill Collings

Full-body Pelham Blue on a Collings 290, and, Throbak 52-54 P90s and a Schaller wraparound bridge? Sold!

These guitars are slab bodied, mahogany to be specific, tone machines. They're full of chime, midrange snarl, inspiring cleans and killer overdriven tones. They can cover a huge range of tones, so don't let their simplicity fool you. Think of the 290 as the Gibson-style equivalent of a Tele, or the electric equivalent of a Martin D-18 - which is to say, they're super musical, versatile, shipped down instruments that you want to make music on.

The Throbak P90s offer players the best of both worlds - the middle ground between a Fender-style single coil and a Gibson humbucker. They are indeed single coils, but they have more body and output than a Strat or Tele. They also have a much more forward midrange response but never get as bloated or heavy handed as some humbuckers. Truth be told, they're our favorite style of pickup. Try them out, you'll see...single coil clarity with the girth and punch of a humbucker.

As we've said before, this style of guitar gives players everything they need, nothing they don't. No fancy tops, ornate bindings, etc...just tone and feel which leaves everything else up to you (i.e., your hands). Like all Collings, the build quality and setup are perfect.

Priced with hardshell case.
