Growing up, the image of Pete Townshend pounding out riffs on a mini-humbucker loaded Les Paul Deluxe was burned into our "for-those-about-to-rock" brains. Later, we noticed songsmith Neil Finn playing one as well. There was just something cool looking about these guitars. Something that made them just different enough to stand out from the sea of players wielding full-size humbucker-equipped LPs. What gives? We had to know...

Fast-foward to today and our first Lollar mini-humbucker equipped City Limits just arrived at the shop - so. good. Mini's bring a whole new world of tones to this classic design. They're more open sounding and have a decidedly more single-coil sounding brightness than their full sized counterparts.

Why? Size. Construction-wise, they're essentially the same as a full sized humbucker. What makes the difference is the amount of string they "hear" - being smaller, they pick up a shorter portion of the vibrating string resulting in more top end, less bass, and a touch less output, though they still pack a punch. We absolutely love how these qualities enhance the already wonderful City Limits model. (Do they differ enough tonally from a CL w/full-sized humbuckers? Sorry bank account, but yes, they do).
