Description

The 12-fret dread is the dark horse sleeper in a guitar world dominated by 14-fret dreadnoughts - even we haven't had many of Collings' DS guitars in the shop over the years. But the independent-minded, adventurous player or collector looking outside the usual box will discover what 12-fret fans have known for years: there is a distinct, special feel and response to a 12-fret guitar. Originally designed as an oversized Hawaiian guitar in the early 20th century, Collings' kept the slotted headstock and body design and reimagined it with their modern build techniques. As they say, "The longer body, with the bridge closer to the center of the lower bout, delivers an open, airy tone with smoothness and warmth not typically found in modern, 14-fret dreadnoughts. Whether flatpicked or played fingerstyle, these guitars have lots of headroom and the wide dynamic range invites everything from mellow accompaniment to biting leads." No better way to test that out than to book an appointment and try it out yourself! Priced with TKL hard case.
