Description

"Every day we try to make a better guitar, every day. You're trying to reach for more, trying to do better, not trying to do the same. A lot of companies are trying to do the same, and that's okay - that's their deal. We're trying to stretch that. Our goal is a little more." - Bill Collings

If you've been on the hunt for the ultimate semi-hollow style guitar, we strongly suggest you consider this incredible Lemon Burst I-35 Deluxe. This, folks, is the semi-hollow perfected.

First impressions? We probably don't need to help out with a description of the looks - this is a stunning guitar, tastefully built with a no-expense-spared vibe (but that's why you're here reading about it, right?). Purfling, Throbak SLE 101+ humbuckers, parallelogram inlays, Lemon Burst on a perfectly quilted maple top, grained ivoroid binding...this beauty lives up to its "Deluxe" moniker with ease. Details like how the color of the rosewood board - a chocolate color with nice red undertones - pairs with the mahogany back and lemon burst top. Beautiful, thoughtful stuff to be sure.

Beyond looks, the first thing that strikes you when taking this I-35 Deluxe out of the case is how lightweight it is - 7lbs even! That's stunning for a style of guitar than normally weighs a good pound, pound and a half heavier on average. No doubt this lack of weight helps create its effortless, ultra-deluxe overall feel.

This is a super resonant, lively, and responsive instrument. The neck on this I-35 feels incredible - is this the perfect '59 carve? It might just be. Chunky, yet fast and ultimately very comfortable. Collings knows how to carve a neck and this guitar is proof, trust us. The setup is simply flawless.

Plugged in, you can expect a far more open and less compressed sound vs the laminate version of the I-35 (I-35 LC). The Deluxe is punchier, warmer, and has a beautiful Les Paul-like midrange. This is a loud, resonant, and balanced guitar without an amp - attributes that shine once plugged into your amp of choice, clean or overdriven.

The guitars coming out of the Collings factory these days are really special guitars. This I-35 Deluxe could easily end your search for the perfect humbucker-equipped semi-hollow! Priced with hardshell case.
