Description

"Every day we try to make a better guitar, every day. You're trying to reach for more, trying to do better, not trying to do the same. A lot of companies are trying to do the same, and that's okay - that's their deal. We're trying to stretch that. Our goal is a little more." - Bill Collings

This gently used 2016 I-35LC hits the sweet spot between an exceptionally well made semi-hollow guitar and killer, old-school looks. The light aging and thin nitro finish creates a nicely broken in feel that we really like - and - we wouldn't feel bad propping it up against our amp on a set break. One of the many benefits of a relic'd guitar, right?

This I-35LC is super resonant, lively, and responsive - not to mention incredibly loud acoustically. The neck feels perfect for a semi-hollow style guitar. Just slightly chunky, but well shaped and never fatiguing, it further creates a vintage feel which ties in nicely with the aged look. The setup and playability are exactly what we've come to expect from Collings - which is to say, perfect.

The Throbak SLE-101+ humbuckers sound fantastic in this guitar! The bridge pickup has that killer bite that sounds somewhat like a beefier, midrange rich Tele bridge pickup tone, while the neck pickup is warm and round but really clear - no mud to be found here. It's easy to see why so many players feel the 335-style guitars cover so much ground - this really could be the one guitar you grab for the gig or session and you'd be quite happy. It'll go in pretty much any direction you ask of it, it really just comes down to your hands / technique. Very cool.

Condition: Like new save for the absolute faintest bit of fret wear that's forming on the first fret (it's barely there).

As we've mentioned before, the I-35LC might just be the best 335 style guitar on the market. Finding a gently used one? Even better! Priced with hardshell case.
