Description

The Fender Custom Shop continues to blow us away with each new instrument they send us. While we tend to focus more on the 6 string instruments here at TME, we can't deny a great bass, especially a great J Bass. Many of our heroes are J Bass players, including Geddy Lee, John Paul Jones, Noel Redding, Jaco Pastorius, and Larry Graham, so we couldn't wait to get this plugged into our shop's trusty Ampeg B-15 Fliptop.

This 1966 Jazz Bass Journeyman Relic has been created to nearly the exact specifications of the original, with some streamlined upgrades. The Journeyman Relic lacquer finish on the two-piece alder body has a terrific worn-in look and feel. The stable rift-sawn maple neck has a comfortable “U” profile, and the 7.25”-radius round-lam rosewood fingerboard has narrow tall frets, plus mother-of-pearl block inlays and parchment binding for a classic signature look.

Other features include a vintage-correct headstock strap button, nitrocellulose brown shell pickguard, finger rest, and vintage-style tuning machines with “paddle” buttons. Plugged in, the hand-wound Custom Shop Jazz Bass pickups deliver classic J Bass tones - extended treble, great midrange growl, and a taut, punchy low end - classic, inspiring stuff to be sure! Priced with a deluxe hardshell case, strap and certificate of authenticity.
