Description

"Originally my work was design, modification, repair, and custom building. I guess you would say the objectives were durability, performance, and tone." - Leo Fender

We are very excited to welcome the Fender Custom Shop to The Music Emporium! Our goal with these builds was to, in essence, retell the Fender story while also tipping our hat to the players who made them famous. Each mark, ding, or worn spot telling a story of countless hours on the road or in the studio. There's a magic to that idea that we can't help but be inspired by, and as we all know, Leo and crew got it right from the start. Why mess with a great thing?

While Fender collectors tend to favor the pre-CBS era guitars (pre-1965), savvy players know there were still fantastic guitars being made in the CBS era as well (the Thinline Tele, '72 Tele Custom, and Tele Deluxe were all CBS-era guitars). For example, this Custom Shop '68 Tele captures all the vibe of this era - the Vintage White color, maple neck with maple cap fingerboard, stamped F tuners, TV logo, narrow 12th fret dot spacing - while upping the ante a touch via nitro lacquer (no thick poly here).

A big part of the vintage feel of this Tele comes from the rift sawn maple neck, laminate maple board, '60s oval carve, and the 7.25-9.5" radius. The Journeyman-level relic on the body is very realistic, and we had Fender leave the back of the neck alone.

The CS '67 Tele pickups sound fantastic. Not ice-picky or overly bright, they have great clarity with just a touch of fat, round compression...beautiful.

Priced with hardshell case.
