Pre-War Guitars Co. Herringbone Sunburst

Description

We're excited to have new instruments from Pre-War Guitars Co. rolling in, including this "Herringbone" ~ their version of a classic D-28 style guitar. The cosmetics may be familiar: herringbone top purfling, ivoroid binding, diamond & squares inlay ... the sound is anything but. Big, open and throaty, these guitars just sound old -- with the dryness and power that flatpickers demand for anchoring a jam or taking single-note breaks. This is a "Level 2" relic finish from Pre-War ~ more playwear than a closet queen would show, but not quite 'dragged through the festival mud and left out overnight in the rain' playwear. Whatever your feelings about distressed finishes may be, their effect on the sound seems pretty cut-and-dry. The minimal amount of lacquer on these guitars, as well as the way it's loosened up by the crazing evident in our photos, produces a more resonant and responsive instrument -- getting as close to the 'vintage sound in a new guitar' as one can ask. Priced with Harptone hard case.
