We understand Saul nicknamed this beautiful Duo Glide "70's Hi-Fi" and it does indeed recall the wood panels, chrome, and black accents of old-school hi-fi setups we grew up with. Those systems where we spent many a night cranking our favorite tunes, debating our fave bands with friends, dropping the needle over and over (or wearing out the cassette) trying to figure out tunes...quite simply, it's where we fell in love with music. What a cool memory to have associated with a new guitar, right? 

The walnut top on this short-scale Duo Glide was sourced from a downed tree in one of Saul's friend's yards in Portland. It's a cool/interesting choice and pairs to the chambered mahogany body really well - think of it as a more midrange-centric alternative to maple. Other striking features include a Brazilian fretboard with pearloid bowtie inlays (10-14" radius), Arcane/Koll P90s, Schroeder tune-on-matic bridge w/Bigsby, and Koll's "Half-Heart" pickguard. 

The neck carve feels fast and easy to play in both lead and rhythm roles, and ultimately familiar - it reminds us a moderately chunky ES-335. It's really comfy and will appeal to a wide range of players. The setup feels great and the Bigsby works perfectly.

Plugged in, the combo of walnut, mahogany, Arcane P90s, and Bigsby deliver classic tones with a touch more midrange and a defined attack. That's where, we're guessing, the walnut shows itself most. The attack of each note is punchy, round, and clear. Clean tones are gorgeous and can lean in the early rock n roll era if desired, and gain tones can be as classic or rambunctious as you want. No surprises here.
