Montuoro Draughtsman 118

Description

TME is happy to host the newest "Bench Copy" from luthier Frankie Montuoro! This Draughtsman 118 is a very faithful recreation of the finest golden-era mahogany dreadnoughts made by C.F. Martin (in this particular case, the subject guitar dates to 1935). Every element of the guitar is handmade (and hand-aged) by Montuoro in an effort to leave no minute detail overlooked. It's exactly the same weight as the subject guitar, and its neck feels and responds exactly like you hope it would, with a loose, broken-in feel. The sound is big, warm and wide-open, with the kid of volume and power that can only be rivaled by the real thing. There's an artistry to Montuoro's "Bench Copy" line that will appeal most directly to Martin devotees (notice the beautiful pickguard, bridge and freshly manufactured Grover-style tuning machines); and if what you're interested in is the most intricately crafted guitar that harkens back to the sound, look and feel of something produced in the mid-1930's it's hard to imagine anything else quite this exciting. We've priced this guitar with a Collings vintage-style hard case.
